Phases of Curriculum Development
A
curriculum is considered as the “heart” of every learning institution. It
refers to the “total learning experiences of an individual” which is not
limited to a school. It has become a dynamic process due to the changes that
occur in a society. Thus, curriculum is designed by skilled and educated
designers, subject matter experts, graphic designers, youth and human
development team.
Curriculum development
process has four phases and various steps involved in each phase. The four
phases are as follows:
1. Planning :- “Nobody plans to fails
but failure results from a failure to plan” – The planning phase lays the
foundation for all of the curriculum development steps.

c) Conduct needs assessment and
analysis
2. Designing
a) Content b)methods
3. Implementation – It’s used as design
guides ( Teachers and Students)
a) Classroom Setting b) The learning environment
4. Evaluation and Reporting – It determines the extent to which the desire outcomes have been achieved.
a) Formative b) Summative
